Solidarity Statement

As a literary journal that is committed to publishing diverse perspectives and experiences, Canthius stands in solidarity with occupied Palestine and condemns settler colonialism and genocide. We stand in solidarity with our Jewish and Palestinian friends whose lives are affected by ongoing legacies of colonialism and anti-semitism. 

We have set aside 50 copies of Issue 12 for readers who donate $15 or more to an organization that supports medical or other forms of relief in Gaza and other affected areas. Please email editor@canthius.com with your receipts.

NOTE: We are currently pausing solidarity donations as aid cannot enter Gaza at this moment. Instead, we are directing people to call/email their government reps, engage in peaceful protests if you are able, and use your voice to mobilize in the communities/organizations you are a part of.

Recommended Action Steps:

• Call upon our governments to demand a ceasefire and end to genocide (CAD/UK/US)

• Educate yourself about Palestine and have meaningful conversations with your families/community members. This resource guide by our friends at Room Magazine is a great start. Look out for teach-ins in your area!

• Attend a peaceful protest in your area.

• Canadians: sign the following House of Commons petition.
