We’re excited to announce that Samantha Jones & Sneha Madhavan-Reese will be joining the Canthius editorial board!

Samantha Jones (she/her) is a white settler & Black Canadian poet, scientist, and editor based in Calgary, Alberta on Treaty 7 territory. Her writing appears in THIS, Room, Grain, Watch Your Head, CV2, GeoHumanities, Arctic, and elsewhere. Samantha’s visual poetry chapbook, Site Orientation (2022), is available from the Blasted Tree. Find her on Twitter: @jones_yyc.

On what she’s most looking forward to at Canthius, Samantha tells us: “I am looking forward to amplifying diverse and underrepresented perspectives through thoughtful reading and selection of works. I love seeing how separate pieces come into conversation with one another, so working on issues from start to finish is an exciting prospect. I admire the quality and variety of work that fills the pages of Canthius, so the opportunity to contribute to the making of such a beautiful and important literary magazine is a dream assignment.”

Sneha Madhavan-Reese is the author of the poetry collection Observing the Moon, and her second collection, Elementary Particles, is forthcoming from Brick Books in 2023. She lives with her family in Ottawa.

On joining the Canthius team, she tells us: “I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Canthius editorial board. Every issue is beautiful, produced with love, and full of stunning art and memorable writing. I have so much respect for Canthius' mandate and admiration for all the work that everyone at Canthius has done. I'm thrilled to be a part of the team.”

We look forward to working with Samantha and Sneha on future issues of Canthius.
